Security doors look great, but can't they be kicked in?

Well, in theory they could, but they are outswinging doors so the person would have to kick in the whole door frame. This is not the easiest way into a residence (in fact, it's almost impossible).

Can the pins on the external hinges be hammered out?

No, because they are rounded off at the top and bottom. They are not like regular pins where you can tap up the centre pin and then remove the door.

They could if you leave the key in the deadbolt. The door is double-keyed and, as with any good security solution, there is always some human involvement. When you turn the key, hear the lock and remove the key, you draw a great deal of inner comfort from the feeling of safety this simple motion gives you. Hang the key on a hook near the door (4 to 5 metres away).
